WHAT WE'RE CURRENTLY WORKING ON

Starting 1/29/18

1. Introduction to course (Support materials are in Google Classroom):

 Introductions.  Define Digital Literacy and discuss what we’d like to get out of this course.

  1. Begin by reviewing and organizing your Chromebook and using digital applications for optimal collection, storage, and creation of schoolwork (Settings, off-line mode, opening a tab in school for no internet at home, Add-ons like highlighter, Chrome Apps,...)

    1. GC, knowing where our classroom folders are

    2. Toolbar for important sites

    3. Exploring what settings will be useful to us (Curser,...)

    4. Encouraging student sharing of practical usage and information based discoveries.

Starting 12/12/17

Google Job Interview Project:

Introduction

Google's work environment encourages creative problem solving and product development. Students will create educational materials that will teach others about how to find reliable/trustworthy information online. Students will learn strategies for critically evaluating information for truth, accuracy, and bias. 

Starting 11/12/17

Does technology access increase or decrease equality in the US? Students will first read and respond to a blog, critique the information, and then create Blabberize image that discusses key points in the article and thoughts about the topic.

 

Starting 10/10/17

5. Safety of Personal Information, Safety from Predators, Cyberbullying, Using Social Networks Safely, and Other Risks of Using the Internet (Physical Strain and Addiction). Students will first critically evaluate each and then respond through the creation of a film.

Starting 9/25/17

4 A and B: When can you trust what you find on the internet? Research sites to determine whether or not you can trust their information and then make a Powtoon to teach others what you have learned!

Starting 9/20/17

3. and 4. Google Teams Project Continues

Students create websites where they place created educational materials. Topics include:  swift and accurate site searching and evaluating trustworthy sites.

2. Google Teams: Project Introduction

Google's work environment encourages creative problem solving and product development. Students will create educational materials that will teach others about how to live safely and responsibly in our digital world. Students will first critically evaluate information for truth, accuracy, and bias. They will evaluate how information is disseminated.
